Rules for Court Allocation

  1.  Duration of Play - Singles 60 minutes. Doubles 90 minutes. Matches play to finish
  2. Two players must be present before you can register on the courts sheet. This applies to both singles and doubles matched.
  3. When the next court becomes free, write down the time you go on, singles or doubles, match, senior or student/junior. This helps those waiting to gauge how when the next court becomes available.If doubles - record all 4 names and of singles please record both names.
  4. Where Seniors and Non Seniors are waiting, seniors have priority except as per rule 6 and 7 below. In this regard, all members U18 are of equal Non-Senior Status.
  5. A player who has already played must stay off court for at least an hour. If there is a court free it may be used but at least one hour must have passed from their due-off time before names can be re-registered against a court. 
  6. Juniors - Under 15 may play on Courts 3/4/5 only any day before 1130 from Monday to Friday inclusive, except Bank Holidays, Juniors have priority on Court 3/4 from 1130 to 6pm. They have equal priority with Students. Seniors who have gone on these courts when there are no Juniors/Students waiting to play are entitled to their full 60 or 90 minutes quota. Juniors may play after 7pm on Friday,Saturday, Sunday only if playing with a Senior. If playing after 6pm on these weekend evenings, the Senior/Junior members must concede to players over 18 if asked to do so. Juniors playing on any court other than 3.4.5 between 1130-6pm Monday to Friday must concede the court after 15 minutes if asked to do so by members who are over 18. In all cases of players being asked to vacate courts, they shall be those players who have been longest on court.
  7. Junior Students (15-18 Years old) - Monday to Friday inclusive, except Bank Holidays, Junior Student members have priority on courts 1/2 anytime up to 6pm. They share priority with Juniors on court 5 from 1130 to 6pm. If there is a waiting list, Junior Students go to the top of the queue for court 2 and they share priority with Juniors for court 5. Senior members who have gone on these courts when there are no students waiting are entitled to their full quota of play as provided for in rule 1. Junior Students playing on any court other than courts 2 and 5 Monday to Friday must concede the court after 15 minutes to players over 18 if requested to do so. In all cases of players being requested to vacate courts under rule 6 and 7 they shall be those players who have been longest on court. Junbior Students who are playing a Round Robin match involving a Senior, may play that match after 6pm. In this instance, Junior Students do not have priority on any court and must queue as Senior members do. Players 14/18 years who are representing their club in any other matches may play after 6pm. In such instances they do not have priority on any court and must queue as Senior members do. Names of these players will be posted on the Ladies and Mens Notice Boards and a copy will be held in the office.
  8. Non playing children are not allowed to wait on court while parents/guardians are playing.
  9. Visitors: ie non members ordinarily resident more than 10 kilometres from the club, may use the facilities of the club subject to the following provisions:- Visitors may only play when a fee of €10 has been paid to the office, or to the bar staff when accompanied by a member and when a court is free. The member must enter particulars in the Visitors Book before going on court. This rule also applies to Junior Students. Visitors may not play between 6pm and 10pm Monday to Thursday.  Overseas Students visiting members under an exchange arrangement ie not as paying guests, may be afforded the same playing facilities as Junior Student members, depending on their age, provided they are introduced by the Senior member they are taying with and a fee of €10 per week is paid, for a maximum period of 4 weeks. They will be expected to produce evidence of identification when using the club facilities and may only play at any time with a member.
  10. 'Whites Only' rule applies from May 1st to September 30th each year. Tracksuit tops or bottoms may be worn only in the warm up period. From October tthrough April white tennis clothing must be worn under tracksuits. White tennis shoes must be worn at all times.
  11. The status of any group is determined by the age of the youngest player in the group. eg: if one of the players is under 15 the status of the group is 'Junior' and if one of the group is between 15-18 the status of the group is 'Junior Student' Absolutely no football/rugby jerseys are allowed to be worn on court.
