Extension of Booking System to Courts 3, 4 and 5
Following the trial period on Courts 1 & 2, the Committee has decided to extend the Court Booking system trial to cover Courts 1 to 5 with effect from Monday 13th May.
Whilst the trial on Courts 1 & 2 went smoothly, evidence collected from the booking system and from surveys suggests that many members simply did not engage with the system and were happy to continue to “queue to play” on the remaining courts. In the interests of helping the Committee arrive at a definitive decision regarding the possible deployment of a booking system, extending the trial to more popular courts will provide a better test of member’s feelings for or against a booking system at the Club.

Ladies Doubles Clinic - Saturday 18th May
MLTCC’s current top two players, Colin O’Brien & James Cluskey will be holding a 2 hour Ladies Doubles Clinic for adult and student members on Saturday 18th May 2013 at 1830. Maximum number of participants is 25, first come, first served. Cost is €25 per participant and the signup sheet will be placed on the notice board today 13th May 2013. Payment can be made to Fiona Byrne on arrival on the 18th.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be coached by two current members of the Irish Davis Cup National team. James has a world doubles ranking of 225 and Colin, despite only recently returning from a long injury layoff is ranked within the top 800 doubles players in the world!!
The timing of this is to coincide with League but all standards of player are welcome.

Hearings Committee - Complaint, Objection & Disciplinary Rules and Procedures
Hearings Committee Update:
In line with the MLTCC Constitution approved in April 2012 (section 10) and in accordance with MLTCC's membership of Tennis Ireland, a Hearings Committee has been selected. The members are Fintan Roche, Brendan Hogan, Liz Fennelly, Claire Dunne and Finian Matthews, Chairperson.
Following consultation with the MLTCC Management Committee and with Tennis Ireland, the Hearings Committee has adopted Standing Orders under which the Committee will consider and make a decision on any complaints or appeals in relation to matters arising from Section 10 General Conduct, Complaints and Discipline as set out in the MLTCC Constitution. The Standing Orders adopted by the Hearings Committee only relate to Formal Complaints and may be viewed here.
Formal complaints will be handled by the MLTCC Hearings Committee. As per the MLTCC Constitution clause 10.6 – Informal/verbal complaints are not dealt with by the MLTCC Hearings Committee but are dealt with by the MLTCC Management Committee.
Under the foregoing Standing Orders any initial Formal Complaint shall be communicated to the MLTCC Hon. Secretary marked for the attention of the MLTCC Hearings Committee. The Hon. Secretary will pass any such complaint directly to a member of the MLTCC Hearings Committee for the Committee’s attention.
A Formal Complaint should be made using the Formal Complaint Form provided by MLTCC. The Form is available either for download by clicking on link http://www.mltcc.com/file_download.aspx?id=447272&a=1 or from the MLTCC office.

Simon Harkin features at the Four Nations
Well done to Simon Harkin, who played on the Ireland Over 35 team at the Home Internationals in Lansdowne LTC over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
The Over 35 team finished 2nd to Scotland.
Simon won singles matches against England and Wales and lost in a doubles versus the winners Scotland.

Wilson National Spring Matchplays
We would like to congratulate James Ryan on his brilliant performance in winning the 2013 Wilson National Spring Matchplays Under 16 . This is a fantastic achievement for James who beat the number one seed in the semi final on his way to victory . Well done James, we are all very proud of you! Full draw available here.
Congratulations also to Connor Moore who finished 8th in U16 Boys and Eimear Reilly who finished 11th in Girls U12. Great achievement to make it to Nationals.

COURT BOOKING SYSTEM
The court booking system is now LIVE for a trial period of approximately 3 months. After completing the registration process to use the system, adult members may reserve courts 1-5 inclusive. Please click on the link in the panel to the right of the homepage to begin the registration process.
The current schedule can also be viewed on the PC in the Clubhouse foyer
NOTE: If occupying Courts 1-5 when they appear available, you should book the court via the PC in the foyer. Otherwise a registered member may book the court remotely and then legitimately claim it from you when they arrive at the Club!!

Member Survey 2012 - Feedback
We are finally getting around to publishing some feedback from the member Survey conducted in April 2012. Apologies for the delay!
Please login (click button at top right of homepage - please contact the Office if you don't know how to login) to access the highlights or a more detailed slide presentation of the Member Survey in April. A hard copy is also available for inspection on request from the Club Office
One of the survey questions asked members to indicate their willingness to experiment with a trial booking system on some courts. There was a positive response to this question so we will be proceeding with a trial on Courts 1 & 2 over December, January and February to give members a chance to sample how it could work. More details to follow soon....

Parking Violations

Lights Cards from Vending Machine
All fifty of these lights cards are in circulation at the moment. About twenty of these have no credit left on them.
If you have one of these "white cards" with zero credit, please return it to the office for your 2 euro refund, as we have no more available to stock the vending machine!

Court Allocation - Queuing etiquette
Following feedback from members the queuing rule pertaining to Doubles matches has been slightly relaxed. It now reads as follows (change in Red):
Queuing Etiquette: Two players must be present, for either a Singles or Doubles match, before a name can be added to the waiting list.
Doubles matches may take to the court once two players are present. However, please note that playing time commences once these players take possession of the court and NOT when the fourth player arrives on court.
A player who has already played must stay off court for at least one hour.
Your continued cooperation with Club rules is appreciated.

Arising from this year's AGM, new court allocation rules are in effect. These rules will operate for a trial period of 3 months effective from 1st February 2012.
You will have an opportunity to comment on the new rules via the Membership Survey which will be conducted during the month of February.
