The Court Booking for all courts has been in operation for a few weeks now and thank you to all members who have embraced it. We will be reviewing the trial over the coming weeks.
We have switched on the ‘check in’ functionality using an iPad installed in the Club reception area to check in arrival prior to using a booked court or simply to identify and book a free court at that time.
We have also made a few minor tweaks to the system:
You can check in 15 minutes before your booked time
Any member of the group playing can check in so long as they are named in the booking
You only need to input your email address at check in. We will be changing this to your Membership ID number in the next few days (it will be easier to input a four digit number)
The system is capable of issuing a series of emails to members in the event of no shows and three such occurrences may result in the withdrawal of remote booking capability from the member in question.
We will continue to monitor and review the operation over the coming weeks
Delelopment Project Update
Installation of the court and perimeter fencing has been completed and the tarmacadam surface of the mini and midi courts has also been completed. Work on installation of the court surfaces will commence on Saturday 25th April (weather permitting) The concrete plinth between court 1 and 2 which will be a viewing area has been completed along with intention to have the courts back in play for first week in May

Centenary Tennis Club Notice
Malahide LTCC has just been accepted as a member of the Association of Centenary Tennis Clubs (CTC) at the organisation's 2014 AGM in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The CTC is an umbrella group of tennis clubs more than 100 years old, including some of the most prestigious clubs in the sport. Initially founded by eight clubs as a pan-European association, they now have an extensive and truly global membership and are recognised and supported by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). All member clubs have a history dating back at least one hundred years, with a significant sporting tradition and social role. Including MLTCC, there are only 68 member Clubs globally and we are only the 3rd Irish Club admitted, Fitzwilliam LTC and Carrickmines LTC being the other two.
The aim of CTC is to uphold the traditions of tennis, as well as the spirit of fair play which is inherent to this great sport. The organisation looks to achieve this through organising competitions and other sporting and cultural events; arranging tennis workshops and seminars; and generally supporting the activities of member clubs around the world. The Association also strongly encourage the development young talent, give their support to a range of junior events, and seek to foster the future stars of the sport.
This is a really prestigious tennis organisation and an honour for Malahide.
Membership is not easily granted and we are seated amongst some of the best Tennis Clubs in the world.
It is hoped that the Club will actively contribute to the CTC over the coming years and will benefit from being part of such an association.
We will have a CTC section and link on the Club website in due course, for information here is the link to the website

New General Manager Appointment
MALAHIDE LTCC APPOINTS NEW GENERAL MANAGER
The President and Committee are delighted today to announce the appointment of a new General Manager at the Club. Michael Byrne will take up this new position on Monday, 9th March following the approval of the members to fill the position at the recent AGM. The position is part-time at 25 hours per week and Michael will be in touch with members immediately in terms of contact details and hours of attendance at the Club. The Committee is very confident that Michael is the ideal candidate to fill this position and that he will make a big contribution towards the further development of the Club.
Michael has been associated with Sutton LTC for a long number of years. As well as playing tennis competitively, he became actively involved at Committee level and was Captain in 1997 and has also been Vice President, President and Honorary Secretary over the past 12 years. During that time the Club put in place a number of initiatives to develop the tennis facilities. He was also Hon Secretary of the Dublin Lawn Tennis Council for seven years and he plays golf in Howth GC off a handicap of 9.
Michael worked in Bank of Ireland for 40 years up until 2014 and this covered a wide range of areas with particular emphasis on Operations Management, Process Improvement , Project Implementation and Customer/Stakeholder Management. For the past ten years he worked at Senior Management level as part of the implementation of the very successful Bank of Ireland Joint venture with the UK Post Office.
We offer Michael a warm welcome to Malahide and assure him of the support of members and Committee alike.
